Steam Frame Deliveries Pushed into 2027, Possibly 2028

The Steam Frame launch has been a rocky one. First, RAM and storage shortages caused it to be postponed repeatedly. Then, with demand outstripping supply, Valve announced the Steam Frame would be sold through a lottery system. This was supposed to discourage resellers and give everyone a fair chance. Until recently, buyers fell into one of two categories, those who won the lottery and could buy the headset at launch, and those placed on a waitlist. Now Valve has added an availability estimate to the Steam Frame store page, and many are not happy.
Reservation holders can now see an estimated order window of either “by December 2026“, “by January 31, 2027” or just “2027“. Valve stresses that the queue is sequential and will share more detailed timing for the 2027 group in the coming months.

Many buyers have not received any estimate at all. Steam Frame Reservation & Waitlist Tracker, an unofficial community tracker, estimates that roughly 100 units ship per day. At that pace, it is believed the waitlist could stretch deep into 2027 or possibly even all the way to 2028.
Fans who ordered Steam Frame within the first few hours, and are now having to wait until 2027 or 2028, feel Valve has failed to prioritize their core gaming community. A post by VR content creator ParadiseDecay captured that frustration pretty well:
Meanwhile, resellers are cashing in. On eBay, the 1TB model, which retails for $1,299, typically sells for between $1,800 and $2,000. In Dubai, Steam Frame is available through importers for a whopping AED 12,999 (roughly $3,500). Makes you wonder whether the lottery actually achieved its main goal.
